Wanting a Trampoline

Lisa and I have been considering getting a trampoline. We read some reviews and decided to order one online. A few days after placing the order, we were told that the trampoline was on back-order and that it was unknown how long it would take to be back in stock. We were given the opportunity to cancel the order, so we did.

We then decided to see if there were any stores locally that sold trampolines. We found a store that does, so I drove there to see what they had. They didn’t have any in stock, but they did have a “Ladderball” game, so I jumped on that and bought it. It doesn’t work the same as a trampoline, though.

When I got the Ladderball home, I started to put it together and discovered that one of the pieces in the set was the wrong diameter. Whoever packed the set in the box at the factory grabbed one piece of the wrong size. So I put it all back in the box and drove back to the store.

The folks at the store were very nice and helped me get a different ladderball set. Before leaving the store, I opened the box and did a visual inspection of the pieces. They all looked like they were the right size and diameter. I thanked the nice folks at the store and drove back home with my new ladderball set.

For me, the interesting parts of this story are what I saw on the way home from the store the first time to get a trampoline, and what I saw on the way back to the store after discovering that the ladderball set was flawed. I was just driving along, trying to keep my attention on the road and the other cars when I saw this fire hydrant. So I pulled into the parking lot, got out of my truck with my camera and proceeded to lay down on the grass. There’s nothing particularly special about this fire hydrant, other than the fact that it was a bit rusty and I had never photographed it before.

And while I was on my way back to the store to exchange the ladderball set, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, this wooden staircase attached to a building. The sun was just low enough in the sky to provide an interesting shadow.

I had already passed the staircase when I decided that I would like to photograph it, so I drove around the block and pulled in to where I could capture it with my camera.

I’m glad that Lisa and I wanted a trampoline. And I’m glad that the whole process took me past some things that I found to be interesting to photograph. And maybe when we finally get a trampoline, we can try playing ladderball while jumping.
