Look For The Helpers

When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

To this day, especially in times of “disaster” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in the world.

Fred Rogers

One of the people that I have come to know through books and audio recordings, is Joe Vitale. I first became aware of Joe Vitale in the early days of our Salt Lake SGR Club. OK, maybe that wasn’t the first time; after all, he was in the movie, “The Secret”, but I didn’t remember that part. Anyway, Laurie Grimshaw Cox let me borrow a copy of his book entitled, “The Attractor Factor”. Joe Vitale is a life coach and a marketing genius and Laurie thought it would be good for me to read his book to learn some good techniques for marketing our club. So I read it.

In that book, among many other techniques and processes, Joe Vitale gives a very high-level introduction to the problem-solving technique called, “Ho’oponopono”. The concepts are deep, profound and life-changing, and the process of practicing Ho’oponopono is what gave me what I needed to continue leading the Salt Lake SGR Club.

The essence of Ho’oponopono is contained in four phrases: I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.

Ho’oponopono is a technique for taking responsibility for what we experience in the world which, when done with sincerity, will then prompt us to be a “helper” in the best we way are capable.

So, combining what Fred Rogers said about the helpers with what I have learned from Joe Vitale, I’ll share a plea for help that Joe Vitale sent out after Friday’s shootings in Connecticut (December 14, 2012):

Friday’s shooting in Connecticut left 26 people dead, most of them children.

The world is shocked and saddened.

People are confused and upset.

I am, too.

Who can blame us?

It’s an event as disturbing as any can get.

I also know you need to be strong in times of trouble. You need to come from inner strength and be able to help those in need. You need to choose faith over fear.

With that in mind, I am requesting your help.

It’s a small request, and does not involve any money.

Let me explain…

Back in 2005 I asked you to help me slow down Hurricane Rita, which was aimed at Texas right after Katrina devastated New Orleans.

As a result, Rita dropped from a Category 5 to a Category 3. It didn’t even rain in my area, which was under such threat that most of the area had evacuated.

Later, I asked you to help clean up the oil disaster in the Gulf. Shortly after my email, things began to get better.

A year ago from this past summer I asked you to help stop the Texas wildfires, which had destroyed over 1,000 homes.

Within minutes of my email, it began to rain in some areas. It actually down poured over my house. The fires all went out.

A year ago, I asked you to help my dying and bedridden other. Within a week she was crawling out of her bed, unassisted, getting into her wheelchair, and asking to watch TV. I saw her last weekend. She wanted to sit and talk. It was miraculous to see.

Obviously, group intention works.

When you hold an intention — and others on this email list do so, too — we tend to get the results we want.

I’m writing to ask you for your help again.

Here’s the story —

The people involved with the recent event – which includes you and me and everyone affected by it – need support.

You can do it by sending them love.

Twenty-three scientific studies have shown that when groups of people meditate with the same positive intention, they were able to measure positive results in the world around them.

Even if you don’t believe sitting quietly and thinking of well being for these parents and relatives will actually help them, what will it hurt you to settle down for a minute and relax?

That’s all I’m asking you to do.

Do whatever meditation or technique you know to reach that inner place of serenity.

Use ho’oponopono/Zero Limits, prayer or Tapping/EFT, or anything else you know of or can think of.

Inner peace is the answer to outer peace.

The more you can find your inner center of love, and feel peace inside, the more you will radiate that well being to the world, touching everyone.

And all it takes is you focusing and sending love.

Just imagine inner serenity…in whatever way you can get there….and let that love radiate out to the world…

Why not do it right now?

Love,

Joe

PS — If you feel inspired to do so, please share this request with your family and friends.

Thank you.
I love you.
