Stopping To Smell The Bark

Finn and Leon were walking along the path when Finn stopped. Leon, not sure why Finn had stopped, decided to stop, too. “Look at that bark on the ground”, said Finn.

“What bark on the ground?”, asked Leon.

“It’s kinda brownish and it’s scattered all over the ground under those green and red plant things”, replied Finn.

Leon, ever the know-it-all, began to set Finn straight on what he was actually looking at. “Those brownish things aren’t bark.” began Leon. “They’re soft rocks that haven’t matured yet into hard rocks. I know this because I’ve heard other people discussing soft rock and hard rock. This is obviously what they were referring to.” lectured Leon.

“Wow, you know a lot of stuff, Leon. I have so much to learn” sighed Finn.

“And while the soft rock is becoming hard rock, it gives off a smell that is kinda like roses.”, added Leon.

“Oh, and I thought that it was the green and red plant things that smelled like roses.” said Finn.

“Nope! It’s the soft rock!”, exclaimed Leon. Finn sighed again and mumbled, “I have so much to learn.”
