Here is an email that Lisa received from Ernest Holm Svendsen last year entitled, “Stop Running From The Rain”:
Dear Lisa,
When The Work isn’t working for us, it’s often because we’re not allowing enough space for our feelings.
A client came to me after working on the same situation again and again.
She was disappointed about a trip that didn’t turn out as she had hoped.
As we worked, it became clear how much resistance she had to being disappointed.
“I shouldn’t feel this way. I should be more evolved than this.”
She was embarrassed and just wanted it to go away.
She wanted to fix it, not feel it.
But we can’t skip past the feeling part.
The feeling is the yin to the yang of the belief.
They hold each other in place.
So it wasn’t until she set aside her embarrassment and fully embraced that little, disappointed One, that the belief could begin to dissolve.
Seeing through a belief isn’t always enough.
We also have to meet what’s holding it up.
Not just question the thought, but take the time to feel what’s underneath it.
The storm can’t pass until we stop running from the rain.

The Art of Being HumanAnd here are the lyrics to one of my favoite Beatles songs, “Rain”:
If the rain comes
They run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes
If the rain comesWhen the sun shines
They slip into the shade
(When the sun shines down)
And sip their lemonade
(When the sun shines down)
When the sun shines
When the sun shinesRain, I don’t mind
Shine, the weather’s fineI can show you
That when it starts to rain
(When the rain comes down)
Everything’s the same
(When the rain comes down)
I can show you
I can show youRain, I don’t mind
Shine, the weather’s fineCan you hear me?
That when it rains and shines
(When it rains and shines)
It’s just a state of mind
(When it rains and shines)
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?Sdeah reiht edih dna nur yeht
