The Search For A Bike Is On

Leon was talking one day about a cool bike he had seen many months ago. Finn, trying really hard to listen intently to what Leon was saying, couldn’t figure out what a bike was. So he asked Leon, “what’s a bike?” Leon was amazed that Finn didn’t know what a bike was. So he started to explain to Finn that a bike was a cool metal thing with two round things that a person can ride on to go places. “Oh, that makes it perfectly clear!” said Finn. “How is that different from walking?” he asked.

Leon said that it was very different from walking because you could go much faster and it was a lot of fun. Finn didn’t think that going faster sounded like much fun at all. But even with Leon’s amazingly detailed explanation of what a bike was, he still didn’t have a clue.

So Leon decided to show Finn what a bike looked like. Finn agreed to walk around with Leon to look for a bike, but he made it very clear that he wasn’t too keen on the idea of actually getting on one. “That’s OK”, said Leon, “Once you see a bike, you’ll want to jump right on and go for a ride!”

As they were walking around town, Leon thought for sure that they would see many, many bikes. But what he didn’t take into consideration was the fact that it was still wintertime and most people didn’t ride bikes when it was cold. As you will probably recall, Finn and Leon don’t feel the cold and they have no idea what coats are.

But after walking around for a few days, Leon finally saw something that he was sure was a bike. He waltzed over there, all proud that he had finally found one and climbed up to have a ride. Finn said, “Well, it’s made of metal and it has at least two round things, but I don’t know that you can go anywhere on it. It seems to be stuck in the ground.” Leon agreed that the bike wasn’t working like he thought it would. So he climbed down and they kept looking.

Are all bikes stuck in concrete?
