I’ve been asked, “Why fire hydrants?”. To answer that, I’ll mention my friend, Les Oswald. Les is an artist, photographer and videographer; and I’ve known Les since January, 1979. Les started a photo album on FaceBook with this statement and question: “Fire hydrants: always there, always ready. But are they art?” He then invited other people, including me, to add their photos of fire hydrants from anywhere around the world. I have whole-heartedly accepted the challenge to photograph fire hydrants as I find them. I don’t necessarily photograph every fire hydrant that I see, but I do photograph a lot of ’em. And I think that it’s really cool how we build our streets, homes and other buildings to be next to the many fire hydrants that are scattered throughout the country 😉
